Prayer for Eucaristic Ministers
May my behavior and the attitude of my heart reflect that holy honor as I strive to serve in a sacred way. With awe and wonder, I will hold in my hands the Body of Christ and His Sacred Blood, so that my sisters and brothers may be fed with the Food of Life. Make my heart and hands clean. Free me from anything of vanity and pride that might divorce me and the service that is mine from the heart of the Divine Mystery residing in this Holy Meal. May I, with your constant assistance, truly wait upon You and Your people in this Holy Liturgy of Praise and Adoration. AMEN.
Lector ministry is for anyone who is interested or has the desire to proclaim God's Word to the people assembled for Eucharistic liturgy. The readings proclaimed in the liturgy are of great value tothe listening and responding assembly. In these readings, God speaks to the people, and Jesus, present in the Word, announces the Good News to the attentive listener. The persons for this minstry need to be comfortable speaking in public, an active member of the parish. For more information contact the church office at 361-782-3181.
Prayer of Lectors
Dear Jesus, thank You for calling me to be a lector at Your Eucharistic celebrations. Let me take this role seriously and diligently prepare myself for it by studying the sacred texts before mass, and by striving to be a better Catholic Christian. By my physical action of reading, I am the instrument through whom You become present to the assembly in Your word and through whom You impart Your teachings. Let nothing in my manner disturb Your people or close their hearts to the action of Your spirit. Cleanse my heart and my mind and open my lips that I may worthily proclaim Your word. Amen.
The Ushers and Ministers of Hospitality create a welcoming atmosphere as they greet and assist the faithful who gather for worship. These ministers invite and accompany gift bearers for the offeratory procession, collect the offerings of the faithful, help direct the Communion procession, and offer bulletins as people leave. They are also attentive to any who may need assistance with the church. For more information contact the church office at 361-782-3181.
An Usher’s Prayer
Lord, you make all kinds of people, even people like me. In your love you gather them all into your Church. As you gather your people this day, help me to serve them in a Christlike manner even as your Son served those who gathered about him. Make me prayerful and patient, helpful and understanding, and may I radiate the joy that faith brings as I serve their needs. Give me your strength to support my fellow minsters. May all who assemble to celebrate our common faith in the risen Savior be glad of heart for being here and for having encountered your Son in one another, in our priest, at the tables of the Book and the Bread, and through the ministry of ushers like me. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
The main purpose of our Music Ministry is to lead our community in sung prayer, but our mission goes beyond this. By sharing our musical gifts, we evangelize, comfort, share joy, spread faith, and grow in community with our parish and one another. For more information contact the church office at 361-782-3181.
Musician's Prayer
Oh Lord, please bless this music that it might glorify your name. May the talent that you have bestowed upon me be used only to serve you. Let this music be a witness to your majesty and love, and remind us that you are always watching, and listening, from your throne above. May your presence and beauty be found in every note, and may the words that are sung reach the hearts of your people so they will draw closer to you. May your Spirit guide us through every measure so that we might be the instruments of your peace, and proclaim your glory with glad voices. Amen.
